Advanced Preventive Dentistry & Ozone Therapy with High-Concentration Ozone Water | PreBeau Oral Care Akasaka, Tokyo

Last Updated on 1 month ago by prebeau

To effectively prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease—and to ensure the longevity of dental implants—safely controlling the bacteria in your mouth is crucial.

At PreBeau Oral Care in Akasaka, Tokyo, we provide an advanced preventive program utilizing High-Concentration Ozone Water. This approach allows us to safely and effectively manage oral bacteria without the risks associated with older methods.

Below, we answer frequently asked questions about our ozone therapy and professional maintenance services.

Q&A: Ozone Therapy and Professional Cleaning

Q1. What is “Ozone Therapy” in dentistry?

A. It is a treatment that utilizes the oxidative power of ozone (O3) to target the bacteria responsible for oral health issues. Our regular maintenance utilizing high-concentration ozone water can provide the following benefits:

  • Support in preventing cavities and gum disease: Directly targets harmful bacteria to maintain a hygienic oral environment.
  • Relief from inflammation and pain: Helps soothe swollen gums, acute inflammation, and can alleviate the symptoms of stomatitis (canker sores).
  • Bleeding control: Calms gingival inflammation, reducing bleeding during regular brushing.
  • Candida and bad breath suppression: Inhibits the growth of fungi (like Candida) and neutralizes the bacteria that produce bad breath.

Q2. Why do you use “Ozone Water” instead of “Ozone Gas”?

A. To eliminate the risk of inhalation and provide a completely safe treatment for our patients. Historically, some dental clinics have used high-concentration ozone gas (ie. Ozonytron, Heal-o-zone) machines. However, using gas comes with medical considerations: if the gas leaks and is inhaled, it can irritate the respiratory mucosa and cause coughing or inflammation. Additionally, depending on the shape of the mouth, it can be physically difficult to seal the gas perfectly around the tooth. At PreBeau Oral Care, patient safety is our top priority. By using liquid ozone water instead of gas, we eliminate these inhalation risks entirely.

Q3. Is 5ppm Ozone Water concentrated enough to be effective?

A. Yes. In liquid form, 5ppm is a highly concentrated and clinically effective dose for dental irrigation. Ozone dissolved in water flows deep into periodontal pockets (the spaces between the teeth and gums), acting directly on bacteria. Because it is a liquid, it also provides a physical “flushing” effect (irrigation) that washes away debris and bacterial biofilms. Furthermore, once the ozone reacts with bacteria, it rapidly breaks down into harmless water (H2O) and oxygen (O2). It does not linger in the air, making it extremely safe.

【Ideal for Dental Implant Maintenance】 Ozone water cleans and sanitizes simultaneously through fluid dynamics. This allows us to gently clean the delicate tissues and components around dental implants without scratching them. It is highly effective for maintaining implants, even if they were placed at another clinic.

Q4. What does the actual maintenance procedure look like?

A. We provide thorough care in three steps: Ozone Water Irrigation, PMTC, and Bioactive Paste application.

  1. Ozone Water Irrigation: We wash away bacteria and debris inside the periodontal pockets, creating a highly sanitized baseline.
  2. PMTC (Professional Mechanical Tooth Cleaning): Using specialized instruments, our professionals meticulously remove persistent biofilms and stains that cannot be removed by daily brushing alone.
  3. Bioactive Paste Protection: Finally, we apply a “bioactive paste” rich in minerals to the freshly cleaned teeth. This coats and protects the surface while strongly promoting “remineralization” (replenishing the minerals that have dissolved from the teeth).
