What Are White Spots?

Dentists formally call these “white spot lesions,” but you probably just know them as those frustrating chalky, opaque white marks on your front teeth. These are often the result of:

• Decalcification after removing orthodontic braces
• Fluorosis (excess fluoride during tooth development)
• Early stages of enamel demineralization

In the past, the only way to treat these spots was to drill the tooth and cover it with a composite resin or veneer. Fortunately, dental technology has evolved.

The Icon Resin Infiltration Solution

We use a revolutionary treatment called Icon Resin Infiltration. It is a completely painless procedure that requires no needles and no drilling.

How it works: Instead of removing the surface of your tooth, we apply a specialized gel that gently opens the microscopic pores of the white spot lesion. We then flow a liquid, tooth-colored resin into those pores. Once cured with a special light, the resin takes on the optical properties of your natural enamel. The white spot practically disappears, blending seamlessly with the rest of your tooth.
